TagBux
March 20, 2008

What is TagBux ?
TagBux is a Web 2.0 application developed through Open Source technologies (Java EE and Wordpress) and patterned from social networking applications such as Shelfari. It lets you use tags to assign labels to books and was designed to test the accuracy of tagging as compared to the subject headings assigned to books. The library collection that was chosen for this study is the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Diliman Library. Through this study, library users will be able to discover the popular topics or genres in a library’s collection through the frequencies of tags.

PBS Interview: What drives your blog?
December 18, 2007
Hi Pinoy Blogger,
We’re currently preparing an entry for PBS Interviews and we’d like to invite you to be a part of it by kindly answering briefly the question below:
Most dictionaries define the verb drive as “to guide, to control, or to direct.” Whether you are driving a car, a nail, or a golf ball, you are guiding, controlling, and directing it at that moment.
Everyone’s blog is driven by something.
*What is the driving force in your blog? What is the purpose of your blog? What motivates you to blog?
We’re hoping to receive your answer not later than December 28, 2007. You may either reply in english, tagalog or any other filipino language together with an english/tagalog translation. A couple of sentences or maybe a paragraph would do but if you prefer to make your answer longer and decide to make an entire post out of it, that would be fine as long as you provide us with a brief summary and the URL/permalink of your long post.

I’m not feeling well lately. (Again.)
So I’ve reset the sectioning system of Postcard Headlines to conform to WordPress’ new tags and categories interface. Now, now. Too bad I didn’t notice the category to tag converter in time, hahaha.

Displaying HTML Tags
September 29, 2007
Displaying HTML tags as texts in a web post such as this has been a challenge for me lately. Whenever I include HTML tags intended to be displayed as texts, the tags do not appear in my published posts. Although I know that I simply have to replace the close arrow bracket with this: & gt (without the space) and the open arrow bracket with this & lt (without the space), Blogger is still unable to display my HTML tags as texts.
If someone reading this knows the solution to my problem, please post a comment on this. You may also post a comment on this blogsite: Web Basics. Any helpful comments would be greatly appreciated.

Uncensored Image Hosting by Pirate Bay

Uncensored Image Hosting by Pirate Bay
ImgBay is one of the many side-projects The Pirate Bay is working on at the moment. Last month we found out that the Pirate Bay has plans to compete with YouTube, and now it seems that they also want to take on image hosting services.
Like most other projects, this one is also created to support freedom of speech and free culture. At BayImg we read:
“Freedom of speech is our foundation. And it doesn’t come cheap. You might have heard that old quote by Voltaire; “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.†It’s really that simple. There are a lot of ugly opinions out there, but democracy ain’t worth much without the right to express those opinions.â€
Users of the new service don’t have to sign-up in order to upload images. However, they can assign a “removal code†to uploaded images, in case they want to delete the files after a while, and tags to categorize images.
BayImg currently supports 100+ file formats, and supports uploading Zip and Rar archives. The maximum file size of uploads is 100MB, but as they say over at ImgBay:
“You’re crazy if you upload that much, then you should consider getting friends.â€
Pro’s and Con’s Of Dating a Blogger and/or Having a Blogger as a Significant Other
May 28, 2007
A blogger and a non-blogger being together seems to be a common occurrence now. Have you ever wondered what happens between them when she’s blogging and he’d rather watch sports on TV? She’s so glued to the computer that she can’t even hear him say ” let’s go to bed now, honey.” Most likely, finishing a blog post takes precedence over everything else.
Most of the friends I know appear to be blessed with gracious, kind husbands who willingly accommodate their blogging fixation. Ms. T, for example, would meet us in the mall in an EB while her husband windowshops, waiting for her to finish. J and M first met in an online group and he doesn’t at all mind her vivid online confessions which happened back when she was still single. And the last time I talked to G, I learned that her husband is already blogging too. I immediately summoned the mental image of both of them positioned back-to-back, both facing their laptops.
So here, my own take on the Pro’s and Con’s of Dating a Blogger/ Having a Blogger as a Significant Other. Do feel free to visit my blog and add your anecdotes and ideas
HALALAN 2007: THE NIGHT BEFORE
May 14, 2007
Candidates will make evrything just to win the election rgcruz.com reported about some anomalies happens in Marawi City as follows :
Election related Violence
My news team found mario lamposan teary eyed at the amai pakpak hospital in marawi city. His son, 15 year old junior lay just a few feet away, bloodied and lifless, gunshot wounds to his back His son’s companion, 19 year old jonathan bandolon was rushed back to iligan city, also with gunshot wounds to his back. Police say, the 2 went out of their house in the community of aambolong in marawi to buy cigarettes when they were shot. No witnesses have come up so far.
Flying Voters
Lamposan, his son and bandolon are part of a larger group of people from iligan who came to marawi to cast their votes monday.
Vote Buying
Meanwhile, some informants brought a 19 year old first time voter to us. Nash, tells abs-cbn, he was approached by a group of people just the other day, and handed a 500 peso bill with the campaign leaflet of a local candidate.
Nash says the group found him through the certified voters’ list issued by the comelec. As he was handed the money, his picture was taken from a cameraphone, and he was arned to make sure he votes for the candidate who face appears on the leaflet attached to the 500 peso bill, or he risks retribution.
Lanao del sur’s comelec hopes to finish the counting and canvassing of votes for the province as early as 2 days after the monday elections.
Would you belive that for this amount a voter would sell his future. A very sad news. Lets just wait the election result.
I cast my vote
May 10, 2007
At last I cast my vote this morning here in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. At least I have practice my right to vote. I have filled up the 12 Senators and the Party List. If you wanna know whom I vote you have to dig Ballot # 2524616.. :). and check my 5 points on choosing my candidates.
Anyway the sad part is the voters turn our is very low. I saw the list of the voters, and sad to say that when you see the book there are only very few who cast their vote on my precint. I don’t know if tomorrow more voters will come.
On the list of there are a total of 37 Senatorial candidates and 93 candidates for Party List groups.
